About Idaho Custom Ironworks

Idaho Custom Ironworks started with a check written on faith. Years ago, Read was building custom cabinets and staircase rails for a local builder named Chad Olson. When Chad needed scrolly, custom door surrounds for a home in Two Rivers, then ornamental rail for a house behind Micron, there was just one problem, he did have the tools to do it. Chad believed in him anyway, wrote a check for his first welder, chop saw, and grinder, and Idaho Custom Ironworks was born.

That same instinct, figure it out, take care of people, never deliver something you're not proud of, still runs the shop today. Read Young is, at his core, a problem solver. People don't come to us for steel work alone, they come because they have a problem nobody else could crack, and we treat that as second nature.

But the real story behind Idaho Custom Ironworks goes back further than one welder. Our founder's great grandfather left a career in construction to build his own company with his sons, a company that could have become one of the largest concrete outfits in the Treasure Valley. His grandfather was a man everyone in the Valley seemed to know by name, and who knew them right back. That legacy, of integrity, of showing up for people, of building something that outlasts you, is the foundation Idaho Custom Ironworks is built on.

Today, our vision is simple. We want to build a company where people genuinely want to come to work, where they love what they do, and where the work speaks for itself every time you drive past it. This has never been about one person. It is about the team, and about building something that provides for a lot of people doing work they are proud of.
